A day built around the small people aboard

From the moment the lines come off at New Farm or Manly, the day runs at the children's pace. Captain Jeremy reads the wind and tide and picks the calm side of the bay. On the way across there is a treasure map to study and a first clue to crack. At the Wrecks or a quiet sandbar, the snorkel gear is already sized to each child from your guest form, and Jeremy is in the water with them, pointing at what most people swim straight past.

The treasure hunt

Every Family Day includes the Sea La Vie treasure hunt: a hand-drawn map of the bay, clues that lead from the boat to the sand, and a small prize at the end. It takes about forty minutes and it is the part the kids talk about on the drive home.

Lunch on the sand

A French style picnic for the adults, with a children's plate of fresh fruit, cheese, baguette and something sweet. Complimentary champagne for the two adults. Juices and water for everyone. Lobster rolls can be added on request.

Questions families ask

How old do the kids need to be?

There is no minimum age. Tell us each child's age and swimming confidence on the guest form so lifejackets and snorkel gear are sized before you board, and we plan the day around them.

Do the children need to be able to swim?

No. Non-swimmers stay in lifejackets, in the shallows or on the boat, and the sandbar stops are the highlight either way. Accompanying adults supervise children throughout.

Can we bring a pram, a baby or a toddler?

Yes. Tell us on the guest form. A second crew member for very young children can be arranged on request.

What if the kids are done by lunchtime?

We read the day to the children. If everyone is happy to head home early, we do, and the rate is unchanged.

Can grandparents come?

The Family Day is for two adults and up to three children. For bigger groups, The Ultimate Escape takes up to seven guests of any age.

What happens in bad weather?

If Jeremy cancels before departure for weather or safety, you get an alternative date or a full refund.
